Background of the Study
Community-based journalism focuses on local issues and engages directly with the communities it serves. In Potiskum Local Government Area (LGA), Yobe State, youth unemployment is a pressing issue, contributing to social challenges such as poverty and insecurity. Community-based journalism has the potential to address this issue by highlighting success stories, providing platforms for dialogue, and advocating for policy changes. According to Musa and Ibrahim (2024), community journalism is instrumental in fostering local development and empowering marginalized groups. This study explores the effectiveness of community-based journalism in addressing youth unemployment in Potiskum LGA, examining its impact and limitations.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Youth unemployment remains a critical challenge in Potiskum LGA, exacerbated by limited job opportunities and inadequate government intervention. While community-based journalism has the potential to address this issue, its impact is often constrained by resource limitations, lack of training, and restricted reach. This study investigates how community-based journalism can effectively address youth unemployment in Potiskum LGA, identifying strategies for improvement.
